In 2008, in the United States of America, it was between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama won and had a two term as the President. After 8 years, Barack Obama retired from active politics. In 2016, Hillary Clinton tried once again and failed miserably. In 2020, others will get an opportunity.
Likewise, in India, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi could have the second term in 2019 and may retire after serving two terms as the Prime Minister of India. In 2024, others may get an opportunity.
But the fact is, in Indian Constitution, there is no term limit. Initially United States also didn't have a term limit. The President Franklin D. Roosevelt had four terms. FDR had been the President till his death. The United States Congress then made an amendment in their Constitution and restricted to two terms for any citizen.
Now, the same family try to occupy the White House. Hillary Clinton did; in future, Michelle Obama may try to become the first woman President. She may project as the first African-American and woman as her qualification.
Coming back to India, many leaders in BJP itself would like to become the Prime Minister of India. Subramanian Swamy, Rajnath Singh and Sushma Swaraj. They would get an opportunity only in 2034. By that time, these leaders may be dead.
In Briton, in 2015, David Cameron won the election. But in 2016, David Cameron had to resign on Brexit referendum and Theresa May became the Prime Minister.
Our Indian Constitution is based on the British model. The Prime Minister doesn't need to be in office for the entire five years. We could send the Prime Minister home on any day. The Indian Constitution doesn't provide stability to the Prime Minister. It is a Number Game.
Look at the current number:
- Total: 543
- BJP: 282
- Others: 261
- Diff: 21
Ahmed Patel suggested to Rahul Gandhi, "Let us go with H.D. Deve Gowda and I.K. Gujral model for the next two years."
Rahul Gandhi asked, "Could we get it back after two years?"
Ahmed Patel said, "May be or may be not. But we have no other options."
The Indian political leaders are now prepared to experiment with Deve Gowda and Gujral model. They could easily identify the Deputy Speaker Thambidurai for this experiment.
Thamidurai AIADMK is the third largest political party in the Lok Sabha.
All 261 MPs are ready to support Thambidurai as the Prime Minister of India.
Mamata Didi is the fourth largest political party. Mamata Didi demands for her party person the Prime Minister post for the next year.
All they need 21 Members of Parliament.
Nearly 100 Members of Parliament are ready to go after LK Advani and they may stay away from the Parliament, in case of any no-confidence motion against the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi missed the wonderful opportunity. The Citizens of India were with Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016, when he made the announcement on Demonetization. He was prepared and had a meeting with the Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs. Along with Demonetization, Narendra Modi could have declared himself as the President of India adopting the American way of politics.
Look at Tamil Nadu; after the exit of Jayalalitha, Tamil Nadu is politically very active. Politics has become the main entertainment for all in Tamilnadu.
In Delhi too, after the exit of Narendra Modi, Delhi would again become politically active.
