Downfall of BJP

Downfall of BJP

How Churchill Unexpectedly Became Prime Minister

In 1940, the country and the Commons blamed the Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain and an uncoordinated movement began aimed at unseating the prime minister and installing a replacement.

Winston Churchill seemed an unlikely candidate to succeed the Prime Minister,Neville Chamberlain.
His reputation as a maverick politician, an unstable ally and an imperialist reactionary made him many enemies in parliament and left him in the political wilderness in the 1930s.

Winston Churchill in the end was the choice, but almost by default.
There were so few men with the experience and talent to replace Chamberlain.
Once Lord Halifax, the foreign secretary, had ruled himself out of the running because he feared the consequences of having to lead the war effort from the House of Lords (no one even in the first world war had had to do that), Winston Churchill was Chamberlain’s reluctant choice.

Even then the king, George VI, had a strong antipathy to Churchill and in the half hour between accepting Chamberlin’s resignation and seeing Churchill he could have changed his mind and called for Halifax. He did not, and that night, 10 May 1940, Winston Churchill, as he later recalled, “walked with destiny”.

History repeats:

BJP veterans sensed the downfall of the BJP. They have two choices.

  • just keep quiet and watch the downfall with heavy heart
  • take action; express their dissatisfaction; register it in the history, just like those judges

Just before meeting the press, LK Advani had a private discussion with Amit Shah.

"Do you think, we could win like 2014?"

"No."

"What do you plan to do?"

"I don't know."

"Modi Magic works only once."

"I knew it."

"Ram, Rafale, Rahul - RRR - will destory BJP."

"When did you start speaking with acronym?"

"Bad influence."

"How could we win 2019?"

"Win or lose, that is not the problem. The crisis is the death of BJP as a political party."

"That's true. Congress lost many elections. But they still exist."

"Could we make Arun Jaitley as the Prime Minister candidate."

"Arun is a lawyer. he is not a politician. Arun acts like a Chief Secretary for Modi."

"Last night, I met Swamy in a dinner party."

"No. No. No."

"Then, how could we save BJP?"

"Let us not declare a Prime Minister candidate."

"Then..."

"Let us face the election without announcing the PM candidate. Let us select the PM after the election."

Amit Shah made the announcement in the press: In 2019, as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested, we will follow the model of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"How does it different?"

"Vajpayeeji was elected as the Prime Minister by NDA after the election."

"NaMo Again?"

"Always BJP."

Party and the nation is more valuable than any individual.

Murali Manohar Joshi asked LK Advani:

"Do you still want to become the Prime Minister of India?"

"This is my last chance."

"Then, I will be Deputy Prime Minister."

"No. You be my Home Minister."

Winston Churchill could become the Prime Minister; but not Subramanian Swamy.

Subramanian Swamy had been active in Twitter for a few months after the 2019 election. Then he retired from public life and publish a few books.

2019 is the last inning for many politicians.

In 1997, Mamata Banerjee left the Congress Party and established the All India Trinamool Congress.

On 29 November 2010 Y.S. Jaganmohan resigned from Congress and became a regional leader.

Today BJP Chief Minister. Tomorrow another Regional Leader.

Even a civil service executive; if that IAS or IPS officer continues to work at the same place for a long time, that person would then become a leader for the local people. Then that new-born leader would challenge the High Command. So, we need to keep moving them.

In British Empire, if they let a Governor General in a country for a long time, that person would become the King or Queen for that country. So, they used to transfer the Governor General of India to  Canada or Australia or South Africa.
